Destin Commons makes generous donation to Covenant Hospice |

Destin, FL (February 17, 2007)…Destin Commons made a $5,000 donation to the Okaloosa/Walton branch of Covenant Hospice in memory of Brad Van Hoosear. Brad, a Destin resident, was under the excellent care of the Covenant Hospice team when he lost his battle to pancreatic cancer at age 37 in December.
Brad’s mother, Kay Phelan, the public relations consultant for Destin Commons commented, “What family, friends, the community, Covenant Hospice and my Destin Commons clients have provided with their love, care and support for both Brad and I throughout his devastating illness has been amazing. On behalf of Brad, we are so thankful for all that everyone has done to help us through life’s most difficult journey.”
This significant donation was made through Destin Commons’ Coins For A Cause initiative. The concept behind Coins For A Cause is to make a positive difference in the community. Monies collected in the metered spaces along the Main Street of Destin Commons benefit local charities and organizations. Proceeds go directly to financially benefit various not-for-profit organizations that represent a variety of causes such as health, disabilities, education, the arts, children’s well being and other humanitarian initiatives.
Covenant Hospice is widely recognized as one of the largest and most comprehensive hospices in the nation, providing a very special kind of caring for patients with life-limiting illnesses, their families, and their loved ones. One of their primary objectives is to provide patients the opportunity to remain in their own homes or in a homelike setting, and to maintain a strong emphasis on quality of life.
